Data Sources

Every spec on Cardinkum has a source. Here's where our data comes from. For full methodology, see our About & Methodology page.

Primary sources

Manufacturer Websites

All specifications are sourced directly from official Australian manufacturer websites. We use Australian specs, not global or European specs โ€” they often differ in range, charging speeds, and pricing.

Government sources

Regulatory & Government Bodies

ANCAP โ€” Australasian New Car Assessment Programme

Independent crash safety ratings for vehicles sold in Australia and New Zealand. All safety star ratings on Cardinkum come directly from ANCAP.

Community

Verified Australian Owner Reports

Official specs don't always reflect real-world conditions in Australia. Community data from verified Australian owners supplements official figures for:

  • Real-world range in Australian conditions (heat, highway speeds, AC use)
  • Actual charging speeds at Australian public chargers
  • Real servicing costs and intervals
  • Software update impacts on performance

All community data is clearly labelled as "Owner Report" and is never mixed with official manufacturer figures. Contributors are verified via email to reduce low-quality submissions.
